Lip Liner FAQS:
Is lip liner necessary?
Lip liner isn’t essential but it’s a versatile addition to your lip color wardrobe! A multi-tasking lip liner, like the Love Triangle Vegan Lip Liner, can be used to outline and shape your lips and/or to fill your lips with color. Lip liner also helps lipstick and lip gloss last longer and look more polished if you use it as a first step in your lip color routine. With lip liner your lips will look fuller and more defined.
How do I apply lip liner?
Start by exfoliating your lips with a lip exfoliator, like the Cookies and Dreams Cookie Crumble Lip Exfoliator, to remove dry skin and create a smooth, moisturized lip surface. Place the lip liner at the center of your top lip, aka the Cupid’s bow, and trace your lip from the center out to the corner. Repeat on the other side of the top lip and then line the bottom lip in the same way. Fill in the rest of your lips with the lip liner, then top with matching lipstick, lip stain or lip gloss.
Can I use lip liner as lipstick?
Absolutely! A lip liner with a creamy formula, like the Love Triangle Vegan Lip Liner, is designed with a wider side which makes it easy to fill your entire lip with color. Many people like to apply lip liner to color their lips first, then top it off with a matching lip gloss to add shine and moisture.
Can I use lip liner to make my lips look bigger?
You can definitely give your lips a fuller and more defined look with lip liner. Start by making sure your lips are well moisturized—dry lips tend to appear thin and drawn. Then select a lip liner. If you’re a novice, start with a nude lip liner—one that is no more than two shades darker than your natural lip color. Use the tip of the lip liner to outline the outermost edge of your lips, top and bottom. For maximum control, start in the center of each lip and line outward to the corner on each side. Once you’ve outlined your lips, fill them in with the lip liner or with a matching lipstick or lip gloss, then rub your lips together or use a lip pencil to blend all of the shades.
What are the best shades of nude lip liner?
In general, nude lip liners mirror the shade of a natural lip so think pinks, pinky beiges, mauves and rosy tones. When choosing a nude lip liner, look for a color that is no more than two shades darker than your natural lip color. It should match the color of your lips as closely as possible, as well as the undertone (cool, warm or neutral) and the shade level (fair, medium or dark).
