Concealer Makeup FAQs:

What is face concealer used for?

Concealer is an essential staple in your makeup routine for all skin types and can be used in so many different ways. It can be used on its own to target specific areas, or with foundation when you need additional coverage in specific areas. Concealer makeup is most commonly used to cover blemishes or imperfections, hide under eye circles, or brighten under the eye area.

What is your best concealer?

There are a variety of concealers to choose from based on your skin type and skin tone. If you want a long-lasting concealer with full coverage and a matte finish, try our 16hr Camo Concealer, which is our most full coverage concealer that is great for dark circles. If you prefer a more hydrating concealer but still want coverage, try our Hydrating Camo Concealer. If you want a more sheer coverage concealer and want to brighten, try our lightweight brightening concealer. It is the best concealer for minimal coverage that gives a brightened, awake look.

Should I use face concealer before or after foundation?

One of the most common questions we hear, is if you should apply face concealer before or after foundation. While there is no official right or wrong for this question, we recommend applying under eye concealer after foundation. This will allow you to see exactly where you might need a little extra coverage after your foundation. Often applying foundation over concealer tends to rub the concealer away.

Where do you put concealer? Can I use it all over?

While you can use concealer makeup all over, it is intended to be used as a color correcting spot treatment. If you are looking for all over coverage we recommend trying one of our foundations to give your complexion an overall flawless look, and pairing it with a concealer where you need additional coverage.

Should my concealer be lighter than my foundation, or the same shade?

If you are using under eye concealer to cover and/or brighten, we recommend going one shade lighter. If you are covering up blemishes or imperfections, you can stick to the same shade as your skin tone. It’s normal to have more than one shade of concealer in your makeup bag not only for different seasons, but for different uses.
